Argonne Elementary held its first walk-a-thon in the summer of 2012.  The walk-a-thon was organized by the school’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) to raise money for a new play structure.  The school’s old play structure had been deemed unsafe by the City of San Francisco and was removed. While the City was working on a replacement for the structure, budgets were tight and the dedicated Argonne parents wanted to help. The community came together and raised a significant amount of money that helped to fund the amazing play structure enjoy by the Argonne students and neighborhood families today.

The success of our first walk-a-thon brought the Argonne community together around a common goal to make our school an environment where all students thrive.  The passion and commitment continues today as the Wolf Pack Wellness Walk (formerly Rock 'N Walk/Walk-A-Thon) continues to raise funds for the many programs the school’s PTO supports.  

Programs supported by the PTO vary by year depending on available funding and the needs of the school.  Programs sponsored by the PTO have included, but are not limited to the following:

• ​Art In Action materials
• Literacy Program - includes additional staff and materials focused on reading and writing development
• Physical Education 
• Math Education Tools 
• Field Trip Financial Support
• Classroom Resources Support
• Garden Education Program - through Education Outside and maintenance of the school's multiple green spaces
